Code 10

Code 10 means Windows matched and loaded a package but the device could not complete startup. Device Manager shows the message “This device cannot start” on the General tab, sometimes with additional status text. Common causes include a damaged installation, a package made for another Windows version, missing platform support, firmware trouble, or a device that is not responding. Reboot once, then uninstall and redetect the device before installing the exact release recommended for the PC or component model. Check the System log around the same time for a more specific controller or service error. When the status follows removable hardware to another machine, software on the original PC is less likely to be responsible.
