ICM Profile
Definition
Image Color Management. Color calibration file for monitors.
Detailed explanation
An Image Color Management profile is a small .icm or .icc file that describes how a particular display reproduces color. Windows can associate a profile with each monitor through Color Management or the display settings, allowing color-aware applications to translate standard image values into that panel's actual response. A wrong association can make a screen look too warm, washed out, or oversaturated even though the graphics hardware is healthy. Select the correct display before changing profiles, note the current default, and prefer a profile supplied for the exact monitor or created by a colorimeter. If a new profile makes colors worse, restore the previous default rather than changing graphics packages or monitor firmware.
