Original Equipment Manufacturer. The company that built your PC.

Detailed explanation

An original equipment manufacturer is the company that assembles and supports the complete PC, laptop, or branded device. Its support packages may include power, thermal, firmware, or feature adjustments tailored to one exact model even when the main controller comes from Intel, AMD, Realtek, or another component supplier. Windows users meet the term when choosing between the system maker's package and a newer generic component release. For laptops and tightly integrated desktops, the OEM version is often the safer first choice because it was tested with that machine's firmware and power limits. Match the full model and revision, and consult release notes before replacing a working customized package with a generic one.
