Slipstream
Definition
Integrating drivers directly into a Windows installation ISO.
Detailed explanation
Slipstreaming adds updates or hardware packages directly to Windows installation media so they are available during Setup and on the first boot. Administrators commonly use the Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool to mount a WIM image and add signed storage, network, or platform packages. This is valuable when Setup cannot see a RAID or storage controller, or when many identical machines need the same baseline. Add only packages that match the target Windows architecture and hardware, keep boot and installation images consistent where required, and test the rebuilt media on non-critical hardware or a virtual machine. An incorrectly modified image can fail before recovery tools are available, so retain an untouched original installer.
