Spooler

Definition

Windows service that manages printing jobs.

Detailed explanation

The Print Spooler is the Windows service that queues documents and passes each job to the appropriate printer package. Users meet it through the print queue, where jobs can be paused, canceled, or stuck behind an earlier failure. When nothing prints, cancel the affected jobs and restart the Print Spooler service before reinstalling hardware. If the queue cannot clear, stop the service, remove only the files in the spool queue folder, and start it again. Repeated service crashes often point to an incompatible printer package or print processor, especially after an update. Remove the affected printer and its old package through Print Management before adding a fresh, model-matched version.
