Bluetooth

Definition

Short-range wireless technology standard.

Detailed explanation

Bluetooth is the short-range radio system used by Windows for keyboards, mice, headsets, controllers, and nearby-device transfers. Many laptops combine it with Wi-Fi on one physical card, but Windows lists a separate Bluetooth radio and several profile-specific devices in Device Manager. A package update can affect pairing, audio profiles, sleep behavior, and which Bluetooth version features are available. If a device will not reconnect after a Windows update, remove that one pairing first, restart both devices, and pair again before reinstalling the entire radio. When the Bluetooth category disappears completely, check the shared wireless package, airplane mode, and firmware settings rather than repeatedly resetting the accessory.
