NPU

A Neural Processing Unit is specialized hardware for machine-learning workloads such as camera effects, speech processing, and local generative features. On supported Windows PCs it appears in Task Manager or Device Manager under a platform-specific name, and its software usually arrives with the system maker's chipset or platform package. Applications choose the NPU only when their models and runtime support it, so low activity is not evidence that the device is broken. If Windows reports the accelerator unavailable after a feature update, install current firmware and platform support for the exact PC model, then update the application. Avoid generic packages intended for a different processor family, because these accelerators are tightly integrated with the platform.
